Who should make more in a relationship -- the Man or the Woman??

In today's society and in the wake of the independent woman era, more and more women are holding their own. Women are becoming CEOs and are leading companies. They are becoming lawyers, engineers, doctors and all of the above. They are no longer considered just a man's wife. Women are rising up in society, hence their increasing paychecks.

Since early in time, the man have been the head of the household. The man said who, what, when, where, and how. That was considered appropriate in those times because the man also made the bulk of the money. But now since women are rising in the ranks, what is considered appropriate now?

Alot of women ask for 50/50 in a relationship. No matter who makes more or who brings in the most money, all decisions and bills should be handled 50/50. Some women feels that if they make more then they should also make most of the decisions. Some feel that it doesn't matter what they make; even if the woman makes more the man should handle all financies responsibilites.

How do you feel about the matter? In today's society, is 50/50 the new standard?
